It was during the month of November 2017, when Dhanika was admitted to AGMC (GBP) Hospital, Agartala, due to high fever and itchiness in her both eyes, the patient parents learnt that she was suffering from Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia and the Medical doctors referred her to Regional Cancer Centre, Kunjaban, Agartala. The doctors showed less confidence in her recovery and recommended patient parents to treat the patient outside of state stating that the survivability was less than 5%. With only Rs. 200/- to Rs. 250/- daily wages earnings in family, it was impossible for Dhanika’s parents for outside of state treatment. At this juncture with no option left, her parents decided her rest days be spent at home.

While the Doctors in Dr. B. But where there is will and prayer, there is always a way and the answer; students from Tripura pursuing their degrees in Guwahati came willingly to support this humanity cause. People’s prayers and contributions for godly cause show the students donating their bloods to meet the requirement for 35-40 unit of (RBC & platelets) blood for almost two months and this paved way for induction chemotherapy on Dhanika again. UTF Team arranged for her for family members to accommodate in Guwahati for proper and quality care of Dhanika. The complete treatment in Guwahati would have been difficult without the sacrificial service attitude of few of our UTF members from Guwahati, especially, Mr. Riyadh, Mr. Simon, Mr. Pankaj, Dr. Jogiram and Tiprasa student’s organization from Guwahati. After spending 10 months in the hospital, Dhanika and recovering at speedily, on 5th of September 2018, Dhanika’s right eye, because of extensive damage, had to be operated and removed at Shankaradeva Nethralaya, Guwahati and artificial eye was implanted.
