
Agartala, 28 February, 2021 : In order to encourage the Tipra youth and inculcate the habit of purchasing and reading good books in them, Team UTF has organised a Book Fair Visit programme on educational basis. Students from RAMKUMAR PARA SENIOR BASIC SCHOOL, KARBOOK were invited and brought in Agartala by their school teachers with the permission of their school authorities. They reached in Agartala at around 10 o’clock in the morning, and Team UTF heartily welcomed them in Heritage Park and showed them around the beautiful Park, which was later followed by lunch at 12 o’clock. At around 2 pm the students were taken to Agartala Book Fair under the guidance of Team UTF. Ten members of UTF participated in the programme.
There were two Kokborok book stalls in the fair named ‘KOKBOROK HUKUMU MISSION’ and ‘KOKBOROK SAHITYA SABHA’ where small programmes were arranged to enlighten the school students. Two prominent kokborok writers from the state, respected Sir Binoy Debbarma and Sir Bikashrai Debbarma took part in the programme. They encouraged and motivated the students regarding kokborok literature and its development and also, taught the children about the importance of reading books. Later, sweets were distributed among the students along with books autographed by the authors.
Apart from that, UTF members also bought various kokborok books and gifted books of worth Rs. 8000/- all together. After the programme come to an end, the students were sent back to their village and was informed that all the students have reached their respective homes by 7:30 pm.
Team UTF wholeheartedly thanks Sir Binoy Debbarma, Sir Bikashrai, Inspector of school, Karbook, and authorities of Ramkumar Para Senior Basic School for cooperating with us in making the programme successful.
In the coming years too, Team UTF has decided to conduct such events in a more productive and organised manner.
